Swazican is owned by the Rhodes Food Group, it’s Swaziland’s only canning operation, producing pineapple and citrus products for distribution all over the world.
I drove past the dilapidated looking factory in this photo, near Milwane Wildlife Sanctuary, in 2010, snapping it from the window as we rolled past. The photo doesn’t win any points for composition but it does capture a fleeting insight into a side of brands we rarely see.

There’s a high likelihood that store brand canned pineapple lining the shelves of UK supermarkets has come from this factory in Swaziland. Often we’re loyal to specific brands when we shop, but sometimes one product can be exactly the same as the other.
