It may be summer but you can still hit the slopes

If you’re planning an escape to the Alps this winter you might be wise to get some practice in and tone those thigh muscles before your week away.  The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead will help you.

Calling all snow sports enthusiasts!

Are your snow legs itching for some action? Here’s your chance. The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead – Britain’s newest indoor snowsports destination – is packing your summer with opportunities to get the snow gear out of the closet during the off-season without breaking the bank, maybe even get some ski lessons under your belt before hitting the mountain next year.

Glide down slopes or push the limits with freestyle

Whether you would rather fine-tune your skiing or snowboarding skills with lessons on an unwrinkled slope or push the limits with some freestyle, try The Snow Centre.  They are giving freestyle fanatics four hours of boarding or skiing for £35 or two hours for £25 every Friday throughout June, July and August. Younger boarders can also enjoy the thrill of the park with junior passes £25 for four hours and £20 for two.

Park and Ride

The Snow Centre’s dedicated freestyle night, Park and Ride, keeps the limits breached, pushing the boundaries of indoor freestyle. Park shapers have worked tenaciously to create the most venturesome and developing park plans yet. And for those who would prefer to refine their skills on a pristine crystal white slope, The Snow Centre is providing two hours for the price of one on recreational lift passes Monday through Thursday, June, July and August.

“The summer months needn’t be about sitting around baking in the sun, as it snows almost every day at The Snow Centre. If you’re sitting at home counting down the months till the next winter season, then we are offering you the chance to keep your body active and your skills sharp at a heavily discounted price.” Pete Gillespie, director of snowsports at The Snow Centre

The centre has a huge 160m main slope as well as the largest indoor lesson slope in the UK. Both slopes are over 30m wide and maintained with the perfect snow surface.

Be Inspired

If you’ve not been on a skiing holiday before why not use The Snow Centre as a way to try something new and start preparing for an overland trip down to the Alps this winter… they’re really not that far away (even on the train).

I do not really understand the point of this blog post: with a name like travel fair, shouldn’t you be fair to the environment and not promote activities that have a massive carbon footprint, like this snow centre?

A reasonable comment Guillaume, but I think it depends where you put the emphasis.

Whilst there are obvious environmental question marks around activities like this they also serve the purpose of inspiring people to travel and experience the world.

It’s appearance on here could be viewed as a bit controversial but if time spent in a snow centre like this encourages people to visit the Alps for their holiday, and they then make the journey overland I think that’s a positive outcome.

    What do you think?
