April 28th to the 29th marked the 2010 Travel Distribution Summit Asia held in Singapore for Asia’s travel industry leaders to network, learn about new industry strategies and exchange industry knowledge.
This year Urban Adventures was awarded a Web Innovation Award for Best Travel Start Up of the Year.
“Urban Adventures is the culmination of a lot of hard work from a lot of people in our wonderful network of staff and partners. We are thrilled to have won this award as it recognises everyone’s efforts.” – Mark Robson, Urban Adventures General Manager
Urban Adventures, which has now expanded to 32 countries, has a goal of reaching over 100 cities by the end of 2010. Launched in October 2009, Urban Adventures has already become a world innovator to industry standards. Also shortlisted for the Most Exciting New Use in Technology in Travel Category, Urban Adventures has turned into a global force recently featured on Australia’s hit show Getaway.
Urban Adventures was developed by adventure travel guru Intrepid Travel and the WHL Group to enable travellers to really get off the beaten path and experience a destination the way a local does. The adventure and travel experience of Intrepid and the local network of operators and technology of WHL Group has allowed Urban Adventures to provide real life local experiences. Both groups are dedicated to sustainable and local travel and are committed to providing such opportunities that promote travel with as little impact as possible to the environment and community.
Short day trip tours, long real life experience
Whether you’re looking for a home cooking experience in Brunei, a tour starting at the Piazza Farnese and explore the Roman Empire then and now, or taking a day long trip to the Amni Children’s Home in Tanzania, Urban Adventures is meant to connect travellers to the destination. The adventure can be as short as a couple hours, or as long as an entire day. No matter the length of a traveller’s tour, Urban Adventures will take you to the most interesting places to meet locals and to venture where the destination really exists.
Web Innovation Awards Asia
The Web Innovation Awards at the Travel Distribution Summit are “for the industry, decided by the industry,” for the purpose of “celebrating the most creative, successful and groundbreaking companies that are driving innovation in the Asian online travel market.”

It's too bad you feel you need to mess up a nice site with a piece of scrap like the thing for tweets, facebook, etc., which block off a necessary piece of your page and obstruct the page's readability.
If you're able to increase the width of your browser window the social media buttons will move to the side of the post. The positioning of this element is something that we need to fix. Thanks for your feedback.
