I travelled out to Vietnam for a whl.travel regional conference in Ho Chi Minh City at the end of June and then spent much of July in SerembanMalaysia where I wasn’t able to be online for the same long hours that I am at home.  As a result Make Travel Fair has taken a bit of a break recently.

A great deal of my time these days is spent working with the WHL Group.  A young and experienced team located in various far flung corners of the globe are all fueled by a shared passion to see travel transacted and experienced the way it should be…ethically.  It’s within this group that you find whl.travel, Urban Adventures, WHL Consulting, and a couple more exciting new travel products that are in the pipeline.  The way in which a global team located in Australia, Vietnam, BrazilUKUSA and Lebanon (to name a few) is able to operate and function so well online is a true testament to some incredible technological advancements made in the last 10 years or so.  How fitting for a travel company to have such a small but tight knit team working from all corners of the globe.

Create an opportunity for yourself

It’s my work creating Make Travel Fair and interacting online through Social Media that lead to me working with the WHL Group.  Work is different these days.  It’s much easier to follow your passion.  The opportunities and the tools are there for everyone, you just need to make it happen.  Take a look at what Nick Weston has achieved by following his passion for food and the outdoors.  He’s been writing here for a while but we’ve been following his ‘Treehouse Diaries‘ since he started that project this summer.  July has been an incredible month for him, he’s been fielding all sorts of media requests as a result of his work both on and offline.  Well done Nick.

Your Safe Planet rebrand and Rough Guides launch Clean Breaks.

Our good and long time friends Your Safe Planet have been through an exciting and busy period recently – they’ve repackaged their travel planning service as Tripbod, and pulled together another Webinar – ‘ Exploding some of the myths of Responsible Tourism and asking whether a green traveller is a contradiction in terms‘ – to support the release of Rough Guides’ new book ‘Clean Breaks’.  The new book is the product of another long time friend Richard Hammond (Green Traveller) and Jeremy Smith.  Make Travel Fair will have a few copies of this new book to give away to our readers soon.

The coming weeks will see us returning to Twitter and publishing articles again.  We’re looking forward to being back.
