It may not be Spring quite yet but it’s not far away. The last few days have brought some warmer weather to our part of the UK, a few new shoots have started to appear in the garden in readiness, the birds appear to be making more noise in the trees and here at Make Travel Fair we feel particularly well connected to this shift in seasons.
A consultancy contract brings some much needed support to MTF
Make Travel Fair Founder, Stephen Chapman has spent the last couple of weeks talking with the CEO of a rapidly expanding, truly fantastic, pioneering, tech-savvy, globally connected community of individuals that fall under the guise of WHL, and we’re extremely excited to announce that he is now working with them to help develop their Caring for Destinations program amongst other things.
It’s not often that an opportunity like this comes along and it’s not often that you find a company with WHL’s reach, organisation and passion so engaged in the new ideas of social enterprise and ‘making travel fair’. This collaboration will help to support Make Travel Fair and enable it to continue its development in exactly the same independent direction it has been travelling since it began, and will also give us the opportunity to have a hand in helping WHL build the sort of global ethically-minded travel services booking site that the independent traveller and the world so desperately needs.
Together with WHL’s commercial approach to getting more of ‘the little guys’ online and bookable, their sister company WHL Consulting is working to engage small and medium sized enterprises in the travel and tourism sector, and provide them with the skills and tools necessary to develop and market their product online – increasing distribution and online bookability. The projects create a long term framework that couples this idea of developing sustainable travel product with providing a sustainable customer base to feed it by digitising their offerings and getting them online through dedicated, locally run internet portals.
About WHL
WHL began life as a project of the World Bank Group’s Mekong Private Sector Development Facility (MPDF) back in 2002 but was later spun off as a private company in March 2006. Up until now the company has intentionally had a low profile as they continue to build their network and bring dedicated individuals onboard. You can find out more on WHL in an article written by CEO Len Cordiner titled ‘WHL: Making Travel A Little Fairer By Design‘ and on the WHL ‘About Us‘ page.
A new mtf Blog Network
Many people like to create, develop and furnish their own blogs that carry their own voices, content, thoughts and personality these days. Everyone wants to be known and respected for what they can create and the opinions they have. We decided that we want to encourage people to build their own home on the internet . Having people write their stories on Make Travel Fair is great for us but not everyone wants it that way, especially since we don’t pay our writers. It’s for these reasons that we’ve started to build a blog network and publish excerpts of stories that link through to other sites.
Syndicated articles
As well as the blog network we also syndicate some stories from sources that we feel deserve promotion through Make Travel Fair for their work. Many of these are non-profits or charities but some are just regular companies with a strong set of ethics.
