The International Ecotourism Society is the largest and oldest ecotourism organisation in the world dedicated to promoting ecotourism. Founded in 1990 as a non-profit, non-governmental and multi-stakeholder association. ecoDestinations is a new initiative that aims to raise funds for the organisation, promote ecotourism projects and inspire people to make a travel choice that makes a difference. The project is described as an auction with a vision.
“Each month, we are featuring a different destination, highlighting a handful of the most stellar examples of ecotourism through our website and online auction. It’s also an interactive online platform. We encourage stakeholders and travelers alike to voice their opinions, share their stories, and contribute to our blog.”
The bidding on trips always starts at 60% of the retail value leaving room for you to secure a real bargain. A selected destination is featured for an entire month on the TIES website, providing ample opportunity to place your bid and valuable exposure for those donating their products. The first auction ran throughout February and featured Costa Rica. The featured destination for March is the UK.
TIES are passionate about uniting conservation, communities, and sustainable travel. They want you to fall in love with nature all over again, and reaffirm your commitment to conservation. As part of their dedication to supporting visionary grass-roots efforts and investing in a sustainable future, each month TIES will contribute 5% of the funds raised through ecoDestinations to an organisation selected from the featured destination.
